Marking the start of the 2014 hurricane season, Hub International Limited (Hub) announced the launch of a new online Hub Crisis Management Center today. The online resource will deliver real-time news and up-to-the-minute risk communications, as well as access to proactive preparation resources for individuals and businesses. The Center will focus on the entire spectrum of disasters including cyber, natural, civil unrest and pandemics.

According to industry data, the top 10 global disasters in 2013 cost a total of $192 billion in combined economic and insured losses. Thousands lost their lives. The Hub Crisis Management Center was created to arm individuals and businesses with information, resources, and access to risk experts, empowering them to reduce the impact of these disasters.

"Implementing an effective plan before a catastrophic event occurs is the best approach to safeguarding a company's future and keeping families safe," noted Todd Macumber, President of Hub International Risk Services. "We are charged with helping businesses reduce total cost of risk. Being prepared, especially for disasters like hurricanes, makes a tremendous impact in limiting business operation disruptions and profit losses, not to mention that it saves lives."

The Crisis Management Center provides:

  • Live news feeds from sources such as FEMA, the CDC, Homeland Security and the National Hurricane Center
